Since 1996, Human Supports of Idaho has been a trusted partner in mental health and recovery for our community. As a locally and employee-owned practice, we're deeply invested in the well-being of those we serve. Our integrated approach combines clinical excellence with genuine care, offering comprehensive services from individual therapy to substance use treatment—all designed to support your journey toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Our Founder

Meet our CEO

Dr. Thadeus Koontz brings exceptional expertise to behavioral health as both a physician and scientist. With an M.D. and Ph.D. in Neurobiology from UAB and residency training at Duke University, Dr. Koontz has served as Medical Director at multiple leading institutions.

While at Duke, he received extensive training in psychotherapy, including trauma therapy with returning special forces at the Durham VA Medical Center and the Duke Family Studies Center.

After completing his education, he moved to Idaho and served as Medical Director at State Hospital North, where he specialized in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder treatment. He then served as Medical Director of Outpatient Psychiatry at St. Alphonsus and as the Regional Medical Director for Behavioral Health Solutions, where he specialized in geriatric psychiatry.

His commitment stems from a personal understanding that mental health touches every life. At Human Supports of Idaho, he leads with innovation and compassion, ensuring accessible, evidence-based care for all.
